Privacy Policy

Last updated: December 19, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how ANGKEL G.P. ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in Greece, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Unpoll website and service (collectively, the "Service") at unpoll.us.

We take your privacy seriously. This policy is written in plain language so you can actually understand what happens with your data.

The Short Version

We collect only what we need to provide the Service. We don't sell your data. Ever. We use a few third-party services to run Unpoll (payments, analytics, email), and we've listed them all below. You can export or delete your data anytime. If you're in the EU, you have specific rights under GDPR, and we respect them.

Who This Policy Applies To

This policy covers two types of users:

Poll creators — people who sign up for an Unpoll account to create and manage polls.

Poll respondents — people who answer polls created on Unpoll (you don't need an account to respond to a poll).

We collect different information from each group, as explained below.

Information We Collect

From Poll Creators (Account Holders)

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign up using Google, we also receive your Google account ID and profile picture.

Billing information: If you purchase a paid plan, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment details, billing address, country, and VAT number where applicable. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.

Content you create: We store the polls you create, including questions, answer options, and settings.

Usage data: We collect information about how you use the Service, including pages visited, features used, and actions taken.

From Poll Respondents

When you respond to a poll, we collect:

Your responses: The answers you submit to poll questions.

Technical data: Your IP address, browser type, device type, referring website, and the timestamp of your response. We use this information to prevent duplicate or fraudulent responses and to provide analytics to poll creators.

Local storage: We use your browser's local storage to remember that you've already responded to a poll, preventing duplicate submissions.

Poll responses are anonymous by default. Poll creators cannot see your personal identity—they only see anonymized events, aggregated results and the technical data listed above.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit Unpoll, we automatically collect certain information:

Log data: Your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and timestamps.

Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies for authentication, preferences, and analytics. See the "Cookies" section below for details.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve the Service.

Process payments and send transactional emails (receipts, account notifications, service updates).

Send marketing communications about Unpoll, if you've opted in. You can unsubscribe anytime.

Prevent fraud, abuse, and duplicate poll responses.

Analyze usage patterns to improve the Service.

Respond to your requests and provide customer support.

Comply with legal obligations.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you're in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data based on the following legal grounds:

Contract: Processing necessary to provide the Service you've signed up for (e.g., creating your account, processing payments).

Legitimate interests: Processing for our legitimate business interests, such as improving the Service, preventing fraud, and ensuring security, where these interests don't override your rights.

Consent: Where you've given us explicit consent, such as for marketing emails. You can withdraw consent anytime.

Legal obligation: Processing necessary to comply with laws, such as tax and accounting requirements.

Cookies and Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

Essential cookies: Required for the Service to function, including authentication and security (Cloudflare Turnstile).

Analytics cookies: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use Unpoll. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about your visit, including pages viewed and time spent. This data is aggregated and anonymous. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Local storage: We use browser local storage to prevent duplicate poll responses.

We do not use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers.

International Data Transfers

We are based in the European Union and store your data primarily on servers in the EU (Hetzner, Germany).

However, some of our third-party service providers are based in the United States. When your data is transferred outside the EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place:

Services certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (such as Stripe).

Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.

Other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this policy.

Account and poll data: When you delete a poll or your account, the data is deactivated and becomes inaccessible to you and other users. Deactivated data is retained in our systems for fraud prevention, abuse detection, and service integrity purposes. If you want your data permanently erased, you can submit a deletion request to [email protected] and we will remove it from our active database within 30 days, except for data we are legally required to retain. Legally required data: Even after permanent deletion, we retain certain information as required by law, including transaction records and invoices for tax and accounting compliance (typically 7 years), and data necessary to resolve disputes or enforce our agreements.

Backups: Deleted data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 7 years for legal compliance, dispute resolution, and security purposes.

Legal requirements: We may retain certain data longer if required by law (such as tax and accounting records) or to protect our legal interests.

Anonymized data: Aggregated, anonymized data that cannot identify any individual may be retained indefinitely for analytics and service improvement.

Portability: You can request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

If you're in the EU and believe we haven't adequately addressed your concerns, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Data Controller and Processor Roles

For poll creators: ANGKEL G.P. is the data controller for your account information and usage data.

For poll respondents: The poll creator is the data controller for responses collected through their polls. ANGKEL G.P. acts as a data processor, processing response data on behalf of the poll creator. If you have questions about how a specific poll uses your data, please contact the poll creator directly.

Poll creators are responsible for ensuring they have a proper legal basis to collect responses and for informing respondents about their data practices.

Fraud Prevention

To maintain the integrity of poll results and prevent abuse, we collect and analyze technical data (IP address, browser information, device type) to detect duplicate or fraudulent responses. We may implement additional fraud prevention measures in the future, such as device fingerprinting, if necessary to protect the Service.

Marketing Communications

With your consent, we may send you marketing emails about Unpoll features, updates, and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us.

We will always send transactional emails necessary for the Service (account confirmations, receipts, security alerts) regardless of your marketing preferences.

Children's Privacy

Unpoll is not intended for children under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), secure server infrastructure, access controls, and regular security reviews.

However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you through the Service or via email.

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
